Baby it’s cold outside! It’s been a cold, rainy day here in our neck of the woods and I got caught in a rain storm. There’s nothing worse than getting caught in a rain storm in the winter. It’s dreadfully awful. So I couldn’t wait to get to home and have some soup that would warm up my soul and to try out my hubby’s Christmas present. It’s an electric throw! I had no idea those existed until I was desperately looking for a cool gift to give him and ran across this fabulous item. They are absolutely awesome for this time of the year. I highly recommend you getting one!
So onto the food… healthy soups to warm you up this winter. If there’s one type of food that I not only love to eat, but also feel like I’ve perfected over the years, it’s soup. I love soup! So you’ll want to check out all the soups over at Inspired by Familia because my family has officially put their seal of approval on all of them.
I’m joining all of you who have committed to eating healthier this new year. In that vein, I thought I would share with you some of the fabulous recipes I pinned to my Soup board. Did you know January is National Soup Month? Oh, and “healthy” is in the eye of the beholder. So some of you who are on a Paleo diet, Trim Healthy Mama, The Daniel Plan, or The South Beach diet might not agree on my choices, but don’t worry there’s a little of something for everyone.
I’ve tried most of these soups and I highly recommend them. The ones I’ve yet to enjoy are on my dinner menu list for this cold, rainy winter.

A good hearty but healthy soup is how I want to start off my new year! Happy eating!
Homemade Chicken Stock 2 of 11
In order to have a good soup you have to start with some good broth. It's healthier to make your own and this recipe looks amazing. Who knew it was so easy to make?
Sweet Potato Chipotle with Quinoa Soup 3 of 11
A wonderful south of the border soup that you'll want to eat year round because it's so good and so good for ya!
Lighter Broccoli Cheese Soup 4 of 11
Don't let the terms "healthy" or "light" fool you into thinking it's not just as tasty. This recipe is deliciously amazing and I love how Anna makes her soup creamy without adding any milk.
Amazing Chicken Tortilla Soup 5 of 11
Here's a healthy way to eat Mexican food: have it as a soup! Leave out the sour cream and only sprinkle 2 chips over it, and voila no guilt eating for you or your family.
Bacon Cheddar Cauliflower Chowder 6 of 11
Here's a "non-teenage metabolism version of the soup using [a] favorite potato swap out — grated cauliflower." This soup is definitely going on my list of soups to make this winter!
I'm going to use almond milk to lower the carbs! Or you can use half and half which is low in carbs as well.
Olive Garden Inspired Zuppa Toscana 7 of 11
Okay, my diet is sort of low carb so I replaced the potatoes with cauliflower and used almond milk. Oh, and of course no bread. It was still as good as the first time when I followed the traditional recipe. Both versions are shared in this recipe post.
White Bean Turkey Chili 8 of 11
There's nothing like chili on a cold winter day.
Award Winning Creamy Roasted Tomato Soup 9 of 11
This recipe has been perfected and my whole family raves about it. I personally would choose this soup over Le Madeline's tomato soup, it's seriously good!
I would definitely leave out the grilled croutons if you're trying to stay away from carbs.
Healthy Minestrone Soup 10 of 11
This past week I had some amazing minestrone soup, so I can't wait to try this recipe. I've been craving minestrone since then on these cold rainy days. For those of you who are gluten free, you can easily substitute the noodles for gluten-free pasta or just leave them out for more of an Italian style veggie soup. Here's a flavorful Paleo recipe over at Paleo'ish on a Dime.
Tuscan Chicken Stew 11 of 11
I love that this recipe is not creamy. I have a hard time finding non-creamy soups when I'm soup recipe hunting.
