Tips to Unwind and Pamper Yourself at Home for Busy Moms

Before I had my son, I would always wonder why moms would get so excited for “me time.” I would see my friends with kids posting pictures on Facebook, having a glass of wine with the hashtags #kidsbedtime #metime #thankthelord.  But now that I’m a mom, I can totally see where they were coming from. I adore my son and love spending every minute with him, but EVERYONE needs a little “me time.”

Having that time to yourself, in my opinion, helps me to be a better mommy. I feel recharged and ready to take on the next day. You don’t necessarily need to head to a spa to feel relaxed, you can create a little oasis in the comfort of your own home.

Here are a few ways to unwind and pamper yourself at home:

Take a Bubble Bath: Bubble baths are such a great way to relax. Light up some candles, put on some music, and you’ll be feeling refreshed in no time. You can also head to your nearest drug store and buy some bubble bath salts or add a few drops of your favorite aromatherapy oils. I love lavender and eucalyptus.

Try a DIY Mask: You don’t need to spend a lot of money on face masks, you can find the ingredients in your own fridge or pantry. Try a DIY face mask like this homemade avocado one for the winter.

Have a Glass of Wine: I love having a glass of wine to unwind. Cut up your favorite cheeses or fruits, and put on your favorite music. You can even invite a friend over for some girl time.

Watch a Movie: Rent your favorite chick-flick, and cuddle up with your favorite blanket — you deserve it!  You can also catch up on your favorite sitcoms that have been sitting in the DVR forever. Ask the hubby to help you with the dishes, or stick them in the dishwasher. Even better? Get takeout that night.

Give Yourself a Pedicure: Treat yourself to a little pedicure. Fill up a bin with water and your favorite oils for a relaxing foot soak. As your feet soak, you can even grab a book, or that glass of wine we talked about.
