Babble.com Wins Folio's 2008 Silver Eddie Award for Best Website

Groundbreaking online parenting magazine Babble.com was recently honored with the Silver Eddie Award for editorial excellence in the category "Best Website, Consumer." Folio magazine's prestigious Eddie and Ozzie Awards are the world's largest competitive awards recognizing editorial and design excellence in magazine publishing. The two other winners in Babble's category were TIME.com, which received the Gold, and Newsweek.com, which took the Bronze.

Since its creation less than two years ago, Babble.com has grown to reach more than 1.2 million readers per month, nearly all of whom seem to comment on each week's provocative "Bad Parent" column (a cultural phenomenon featured in the New York Times earlier this month). The site, which has a full-time editorital staff of just two people, publishes six pieces of edited content per week and manages nine popular blogs.

Babble's Eddie Award comes hot on the heels of its nomination (opposite Slate.com and TheNewYorker.com) for the 2008 National Magazine Award (ASME) for General Excellence Online. ASME wrote, "[Babble] skillfully combines in-depth reporting, thoughtful journalism, a dazzling variety of blog voices and visually arresting, interactive digital features. The result is a smart, hip and endlessly entertaining website that has revolutionized the parenting field."
