We all know that children can make up some amazing stories. My 5-year-old daughter has convinced her teacher that I’m having another baby (I’m not) and that we’re going to Disney World next week (we’re not). But one 11-year-old is positive that he visited Heaven, met God and Jesus and then came back to life.
When he was four, Colton Burpo had an emergency appendectomy during which, he claims, he went to Heaven and met various folks: his unborn sister, his great-grandfather, God and Jesus.
Burpo has written a book about his amazing experience. Earlier this week, he was on Fox & Friends recounting his story, according to Mediaite.
He described God as “very, very big.” Jesus “had a rough but kind face, sea-blue eyes and a smile that lit up the heavens.”
Along with Lynn Vincent (the co-author of Going Rogue), Colton and his family have written Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back. which chronicles his experience.
It’s awfully sweet that this kid thinks he went to Heaven, but I can’t believe they’re marketing this book as nonfiction and featuring it on a so-called cable news network. Do you believe his story? Check out the video and decide for yourself.
