12 Awesome Star Wars YouTube Videos Your Kids Will Go Nuts ForJulianna Miner
I have a little boy that is completely obsessed with Star Wars. Up until a couple of years ago, I was sort of ambivalent about it all. I surprised myself when I discovered that, at the advanced age of 39, I love it too. Before I knew it had even happened, Star Wars had begun to permeate our lives. I now find myself quoting Yoda and correcting people when they think Mace Windu’s light saber is blue. It’s purple.
So when I saw the newest teaser for VW’s upcoming Star Wars-themed Super Bowl ad I immediately fell in love and showed it to my son. He loved it and demanded I show it to his sisters. They loved it and we decided to add it to our Star Wars playlist on YouTube. Yes, we have a playlist on YouTube on my iPad and it’s nothing but Star Wars videos and the whole family digs it.
If you’re already a Star Wars junkie, have fun seeing these clips again. And if you’re not, try showing these videos to your kids and just see if they don’t want to watch them a million times. Star Wars is a slippery slope, my friends. In a year, you’ll be spouting Jedi maxims and saying things to your kids like: “I’m not asking you to denounce the Rebel Alliance, ok? Just flush the potty.”
The Bark Side VW Commercial 1 of 12
Volkswagen knows their stuff. Last year's Star Wars-themed commercial was a YouTube smash and a big success. This year's commercial is equally cute. I mean, what's better than Star Wars? How about some adorable dogs? And dogs barking out the Star Wars theme? Genius.
VW Commercial 2 of 12
Most of us have seen this commercial from last year, where a little guy dressed in a Darth Vader costume tries to use The Force on stuff around the house, and his dad helps him out courtesy of the family car. Brilliant.
Jedi Kittens 3 of 12
This video is super short, but it's also super awesome. Who doesn't love adorable kitteh Jedis?
Jedi Kittens Strike Back 4 of 12
More precious kitteh cuteness and a slightly longer video. So awesome and adorable.
Darth Vader Goes to DisneyLand 5 of 12
Filmed by Disney to promote the re-opening of their Star Tours ride at Disney Land, this video could not be more fun.
Hardware Wars 6 of 12
My kids and husband adore this old movie (available on DVD and in two parts on YouTube). Honestly, I think it's pretty silly. George Lucas, however, says this is his favorite Star Wars parody.
The Fastest, Funniest Lego Star Wars Story Ever Told 7 of 12
Fantastic stop action animation done entirely in Legos, of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi. Be prepared to watch this over and over until your eyes bleed.
The Fastest, Funniest Lego Star Wars Story Ever Told Part 2 8 of 12
This video covers the second set of movies (which actually are supposed to come chronologically before the movies that came out 20 years prior to the "old" movies). Sadly, that makes sense to me. More amazing stop action Lego animation of Episodes 1-3. Also awesome.
Darth Vader and Stormtroopers Dancing 9 of 12
Filmed at Star Wars Weekends at Disney World last year, this video of Darth Vader and Stormtroopers dancing to Michael Jackson is hilarious. I love all the fans screaming and going nuts in the background, too.
Boba Fett Dancing 10 of 12
Boba Fett does not just dance here - he will blow your damn mind with his mad skill, dancing to Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. This video is quick but fun, and was shot at Star Wars Weekends at Disney World last year.
Weird Al Yankovic’s The Saga Begins 11 of 12
I adore Weird Al and think he's brilliant. I mean that. The first time my son heard this song, his eyes got big and he got very quiet. Then he said:"AGAIN". It remains his very favorite song in the history of ever. A parody of Don Mclean's American Pie, it is funny, clever, and spot on.
Weird Al Yankovic’s Yoda 12 of 12
Another Weird Al gem, this song is a parody of the Kinks' "Lola". It's obvious that Weird Al is a genuine fan and because Yoda is my favorite, this song gets played in my minivan A LOT.
