SpaghettiOs Recall

Uh-oh, SpaghettiOs.

Multiple news sources are reporting that Campell Soup Co. has recalled 15 million pounds of SpaghettiOs because the meatballs in them are undercooked.

The Baltimore Sun says the undercooked meat is the result of “a cooker malfunction(ing) at one of the company’s plants in Texas.”

Three varietes of the product are included in the recall.  So check your cupboards for SpaghettiOs with Meatballs, SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs, and SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars).  Look for the phrse “EST 4K,” and a use-by date between June 2010 and December 2011 printed on the bottom of the can.

“The USDA said there are no reports of illnesses associated with the product and the company has received no customer complaints to date,” according to the Sun.

Now here’s the gross part: Campbell spokesperson Anthony Sanzio said much of the recalled product “has likely been consumed.”

Consumers with questions about the recall can call Campbell’s Hotline at (866) 495-3774.
