And yet, that’s not how it is. You find them by accident: at Chuck E. Cheese parties and parent-teacher conferences and while your kid is throwing up at the playground. And when you do find them, it’s important to appreciate them.
My mom friends have my back. We all keep an eye on each other’s kids; we carpool; we share hand-me-downs. We remind each other that it’s a half-day at school and that we’re supposed to bring in cupcakes. I am eternally grateful to my friends. I wish I could give us all a week at a spa.
Alas, I cannot. But I can still come up with something little, cute, and cool for Mother’s Day, to say thank you to my friends. Thank you for laughing with me and crying with me. Thank you for helping me be a better mother.
