18 Blog Pet Peeves You'll Totally Want to Avoid

By Lori Garcia |

For every wonderful thing about blogging, there are at least a dozen pet peeves.

While much has been written about proper blog etiquette, this post is dedicated to those irky little things that drive us B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

With a quadrillion blogs out there, our readers can be as discriminating as they want to be. Enough peeves and POOF! It’s on to the next blog. Since attracting and retaining readers is what we’re here to do, let’s do our part to keep ‘em coming back for more.

Take notes my friends, the blog masses have spoken on their biggest blog pet peeves.

One of my current pet peeves is exactly what you’ve done here. Start an entry on the main page, make me click to continue then make me click throughtto see each point made, each photo, etc. Nope, not doing it. I’ll do the click to continue but not the endless clicking once there. If that’s your fomat, no matter how good the content may be, I won’t be reading/viewing it. I’ll put up with it for professional content or a particularly high-quality article, but momblogs, not a chance.

For me, my biggest pet peeve is having to click through an article. If there is a list of items offered, I like to be able to scroll down, not having to wait to reload the page. It’s really hard to read stuff like that on my phone and with a 2-year-old runnign around. If t’s not all on the same page, I tend to glance and move on.

Yeah, I kinda wish Babble would make it just a slideshow so the pics change without reloading the whole page. (Pretty please, Babble? Some of my favorite posts to read are these things where multiple bloggers sound off…but I hate that the WHOLE PAGE has to reload every single time.)

The slide shows. Enough already. Especially when you have to keep clicking then scroll down again. A lot of times I don’t read articles like this because it is so annoying,
