20 Reasons to Take a Family Vacation NOW

Recently over 1,000 parents with kids ages 5-17 participated in a Disney Time Survey and what was revealed is a whole lot of families are in need of some major family bonding time.

The average American family doesn’t think they spend enough time together (guilty). We don’t know about you, but between school, work, sports, and extracurricular activities it’s no surprise that we are all feeling disconnected and burnt out. The best way to reconnect with your loved ones is to get away. No distractions and no excuses: just you and your kids spending quality time, enjoying each other’s company. Can’t we all use some family bonding time? It doesn’t have to be far away, exotic or super expensive as long as you are together. It won’t be long before spring break is upon us, and summer is just around the corner. Now is the perfect time for you to make plans, pack your bags, board planes, trains, automobiles, and head out to your destination of choice. It’s time to start “dating” your own family, rediscover and learn new things about each other.

There’s nothing more important to us then family. As sisters we have so many wonderful memories of family vacations we took with our parents while growing up, many of them were yep, you guessed it — Disney family vacations. Last year while attending the Disney Social Media Moms Conference, we heard the chilling statement that continues to pull at our mama heart strings every time we think of it. Amy Foster from Disney Parks Consumer Insights shared “You only have 18 summers with your children.” Every parent in the room took a collective sigh sob and depending how old your kids are, some of us have a lot less time than that. That one little sentence reminded us all that our kids are growing up in the blink of an eye. Before we know it they will go off to college, become adults, and have families of their own. Right now is the time to enjoy your family and stop putting off that vacation that you’ve been dreaming about. We’ve taken this advice as our parental wake up call. We are making a conscious effort to honor the precious, yet limited time we have with one another. Check out some of the alarming stats about quality time and how the average American family doesn’t get enough of it in their daily lives.
