jpeg-1I hesitate to use the word “adorable” in the same sentence as the phrase “drowning prevention”, but I’m going to go ahead here. The good people of Mashable just released a list of summer-friendly gadgets, and there was one that stood out to me as particularly important for parents. The Swimming Pool Alarm is an advancement in water safety I’ve never seen before, so I wanted to share.

The goal behind this Swimming Pool Alarm is to alert you when your child touches a body of water, as indicated by the wristband he or she wears with a little turtle on it (hence the adorable part). The alarm component stays indoors (or near you), and lets you know when your child actually touches water (or heaven forbid falls in). While I assume this is intended for your home pool, I really see this as being a clutch purchase for vacations, too, where both you and your child are unfamiliar with any large bodies of water that might be nearby.  Have you come across any summer safety items that you love? Are there any items you wish existed? Let me know, I’ll check things out.

Buy it here.
