7-Year-Old Gets Boob Job Certificate for Her Birthday! Really?

Bambi In SohoNow most 7-year-olds, for their birthday they would get a brand new Malibu Barbie, a shiny pair of Twinkle Toes or maybe a American Girl doll. But Poppy, the child of Sarah Burge aka the Human Barbie, she got something vastly un-age-appropriate for turning seven. Her mother – who is a self-confessed plastic surgery addict – gave her daughter a gift certificate for a boob job. Yes, a boob job.

What did young Poppy think of the gift? She reportedly “squealed with delight.”  And it was apparently something she had wanted saying, “‘I can’t wait to be like Mummy with big boobs. They’re pretty.” Her mom said, “Poppy begged me for a boob job, so I gave her the voucher so she can have it after she’s 16, when it’s legal.” She added that, “If she develops naturally big boobs, she can have something else done with it.”

It’s pretty shocking that a mother would give her young daughter a certificate for a boob job or any kind of plastic surgery for that matter. The 7-year—old has years to develop into what she is “supposed” to naturally look like,  and this seems likely to instill a negative self-image -an idea of you will grow up to be imperfect but that surgeons can fix you.

One thing, Sarah Burge (who has reportedly spent close to a million dollars on plastic surgery for herself) loves some publicity. So perhaps this was just a wacky way to get written up? Or does she already think her 7-year-old need a boob job?
