A Dark Day in the Criminal Justice System: The Casey Anthony VedictMeredith Carroll
Not since OJ Simpson was found not guilty of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman have I felt so sickened at the outcome of a trial.
In what universe is Casey Anthony not guilty? I mean, I get it: I wasn’t in the courtroom (or watching the live stream) or the jury room and don’t have every single piece of evidence in front of me. But between us, how is she not guilty?
It has been reported that her parents left the courtroom today and “are not celebrating with [Casey] at this time.” What’s to celebrate? That the murder of an innocent toddler has gone unpunished?
Even if she’s truly not guilty (and not just legally not guilty), how does Casey Anthony justify all the lies she told in the time her daughter was missing before she was arrested? And the time she spent partying while her daughter was missing? If you’re a parent, or just a person with a heart and soul in tact, then you know if a toddler goes missing and it’s yours, you do everything in your power and beyond to help ensure her safe return, not go out boozing and lying to investigators.
In all good conscience, whether she’s guilty of murder, how does Casey Anthony sleep at night, and will she sleep any better if she really got away with murder?
Either way, here’s hoping she can never, ever become a mother again.
What do you think of the trial’s outcome?
