Today we went downtown to grab a burger (from Hubert Keller’s Burger Bar), to go to Gumps to get 50% off Christmas ornaments (I got one shaped like the Great Wall of China), and to buy snow clothes for our 6-year-old daughter. We are hoping (fingers crossed) to snag a room in Lake Tahoe later on in the week so she can play in the snow for the very first time.
We went to four, yes four, different stores to try to find a decent (and decently priced) puffer jacket and a pair of snow pants. We had no luck at all. Not only could we not find a jacket for under $80, but there was not a single pair of snow pants to be found. Turned out we were just shopping at the wrong stores. Our first stop should have been Target! I don’t know why we wasted hours of our life in our fruitless search when Target had everything we need, and at great prices too.
I looked online and found that not only did they have a cute pair of snow pants in hot pink, that they were only $13.99 but that they had them in stock! Plus a stylish C9 by Champion puffer coat for just $27.99. Throw in a pair of sturdy snow gloves for $11.18 and an adorable hat for $6.98 and I’ve got her entire winter must-haves for about $60. So tomorrow we are heading to our local Target and will get her a winter wardrobe for our trip. Live and learn, live and learn.
