Adoptive Mom Makes 13-Year-Old Son's Wish for Baby Pictures Come True

Latrell Higgins' "newborn" shots.

Latrell Higgins’ “newborn” shots.

Kelli Higgins has become an online sensation after sharing the photos she took of her 13-year-old adopted son Latrell posing as a newborn. Higgins is a photographer out of Crestview, Florida, and a mother of six biological and two adopted children. According to TODAY, “Higgins and her husband adopted Latrell and his sister Chanya two years ago,” and Latrell mentioned shortly thereafter that he wished he had pictures of himself as a baby. So Kelli offered to do a “newborn photo shoot” for Latrell, and the results, left, have touched thousands of people all over the world.

“This is such a beautiful thing to do!” a commenter said on Kelli’s Facebook post sharing Latrell’s photo. “I know so many people who adopted older children and don’t have ANY pictures of their infancy. What a spectacular way to remedy that… after all, he’ll always be your baby.”

Kelli is touched by the response she’s gotten, and says “there have been a lot of parents that come to me telling me that they were thinking about adopting a baby, but after seeing those photos it’s changed their minds and they want to adopt an older child.”

Kelli was kind enough to share with me these photos of her entire family of eight children! What a beautiful sight. Congratulations, Kelli, on this wonderful moment in your career as a photographer and as a mother.
