It’s here, it’s here. No time to say hello, goodbye, it’s here, it’s here, it’s here.
Oh yeah, that would be the Alice in Wonderland trailer. After months of being sated with pictures from the Tim Burton take on the Lewis Carroll classic, we’ve got live action featuring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in the form of the official trailer.
They’ve managed to hit on the biggies in the one-and-a-half minute clip, including a shot of the Cheshire Cat (who is appropriately scary looking with his teeth bared), the actual fall down the rabbit hole into Wonderland, “drink me” and Alice’s meeting with the Mad Hatter (Depp).
I’m going to say just from this that my fears that Mia Wasikowska was going to skew too old for seven-and-a-half-year-old Alice are founded. The Australian teen very much looks like an older teenager in the clip, especially with her off-the-shoulder blue dress.
There’s also a sense that this is going to be a Johnny Depp film instead of a film about Alice, but that may just be to draw in Depp fans via the very short teaser.
What do you think after seeing the trailer? Still excited? You’ll have to wait until March 2010, so there’s plenty of time to pull out the books and cover them through bedtimes for months to come.
