Are High Tech Story-telling Pajamas Genius or Just Lazy?Sunny Chanel
I have a confession: when my daughter begs insists, really that we read her yet another book, I sometime just don’t have the energy. I love story time, really. It is one of my favorite things to do with my kid, but after a long day, having a lengthy story session can sometimes be exhausting and frustrating. Now, you may have noticed I said “my daughter,” meaning I just have one child. Juan Murdoch has six. That is one of the reasons why he invented the Smart Pjs.
Mr. Murdoch’s story time is far more challenging then mine. He has six kids he has had to please, placate and lull off to sleep. He saw a need and opted to find a way to fill it. His invention is the before mentioned Smart Pjs. The pajamas may look like normal every day polka dotted pajamas, but they have a story to tell.
Based on QR codes, he and a developer created a patterns of dots that could be read by smart devices and would, when scanned, launch children’s tales from Mother Goose to Hans Christian Andersen. A free app comes with the purchase of the pajamas (which retail for $25) and is available for iOS and Android devices. The child scans the “codes” all over their body and the stories (right now there are 47) start.
I don’t know how I’d feel about bedtime aided with a smart phone, but the idea it is genius. Would you buy your kid Smart Pjs?
