Barbra Streisand Says No To Big Time Vegas Money [Morning News]Brett Singer
StarPulse is reporting that Babs “turned down a massive $100 million offer to take up a residency in Las Vegas.”
Hey! Vegas people! I’ll do it for much, much less! Like, $50 million!
But wait. Don’t decide just yet. Listen to me sing first.
OK, how about $25 million? No? $10 million? $9 an hour? Hello? Bueller?
It’s always amazing to me when anyone turns down an offer like this. I’m not knocking the decision. Maybe La Streisand isn’t interested in moving to Vegas at the age of 67. Still, how much money do you need to have before you can have this conversation:
Scene: The Streisand Manse. Telephone rings. A servant answers it and brings it to Barbara, who is getting a pedicure while sipping something freshly squeezed.
Babs’ Agent: Babs! Babe! Great news!
Babs: Get to the point, peon.
Babs’ Agent: Rightrightright. OK, here’s the deal. Are you sitting down? Are you? Huh?
(Babs exhales, motions to servant to come and get the phone.)
Babs’ Agent: OkayOkayOkay! Here it is. Vegas, baby! And the paycheck? One. Hundred. Million. Dollars.
(Long pause. Babs is offered a freshly peeled grape from another servant.)
Babs’ Agent: You there, Barbara baby? Huh? Whaddya say?
(Short pause. Babs chews her peeled grape contemplatively.)
Babs: Nah. (Drops phone, leans back to allow another servant to place cucumber slices over her eyelids.)
If you were just DYING to see Barbara, don’t fret. StarPulse says that she is planning a tour for the Summer of 2010, according to an “insider”. That “insider” also said that “Money has never been a deciding factor” in Barbara’s career. Of course not. I’m sure the people who paid over $1000 to see her in 2007 would agree.

Programming note: R-word Radio will be postponed because of snow. How does snow have any affect on my Internet radio show? Because school is canceled, and my kids aren’t old enough yet to play engineer. Right now, we’re thinking Wednesday, February 17 at 12:30pm EST; we’ll keep you posted.
Google introduced a new feature called Google Buzz. I think it’s sort of like Twitter. It lets people “share” their thoughts with other people. Because really, don’t we all need to know more about what everyone is thinking? There’s not nearly enough information out there.
And finally, an item for music fans. The Bonnaroo 2010 lineup was announced. Jay-Z will perform at this years’ event. Glad to see Jay-Z getting some work, I’ve been worried about him.
