It’s the social media holy grail: finding the best time to post on social media so that you get tons of engagement, click throughs, likes, and shares. Over the years I’ve heard, quite frankly, a million suggestions. “It’s 2pm, Eastern time!” swore one social media guru to me. “No, no, it’s 9:30am Eastern time!” said another.
The thing is, no matter how much you try to narrow that time down, it isn’t going to necessarily reflect the best times to reach YOUR particular audience. For instance, I know that sending something at 2pm Eastern time won’t reach the moms on the East Coast that are preparing to pick up kids from school. And 9:30 am on the Eastern Seaboard equals still-in-bed-time for the West coast.
There are different times to reach different audiences. So some folks will simply repost the same outbound link several times a day in order to reach each audience (something I’ve done myself), but then you run the risk of irritating the on-line-all-day people.
In other words, it’s hard to get it right.
But this doesn’t mean people don’t keep trying. Below you’ll find the latest attempt to narrow down the “best” times. Take a look. What do you think? Did the folks at Social Caffeine get it right?
