Busy Parent Briefing: Tyson Recalls Ground Beef Due To E. Coli Contamination

Tyson voluntarily recalls over 130,000 lbs of ground beef due to E. coli.

First cantaloupe and avocados get recalled for listeria this month, and now Tyson Fresh Meats has voluntarily recalled over 130,000 lbs of ground beef after a sample of the product tested positive for E. coli.

The recall involves ground beef  that was sold in pre-packaged printed tubes and does not include clear film, tray pack ground beef or any ground beef patties.

The recalled packages are 5 lb. chubs of Kroger Quality Guaranteed Ground Beef 73% Lean 27% Fat, 3 lb. chubs of Butcher’s Brand Premium Beef, Ground Beef 73% Lean 27% Fat, and 3 lb. chubs of Ground Beef 73% Lean 27% Fat, bearing the code EST 245D as well as a “Best Before or Freeze By SEP 12, 2011.” Unfortunately due to the sell by date, most of the meat has probably already been consumed.

Tyson urges consumers to return or discard the recalled meat and call Tyson Consumer Relations at 866-328-3156 for any further questions.
