Carlina Whites Suspected Kidnapper Taken Into CustodySierra Black
Just days after Carlina White returned to her parents 23 years after being kidnapped, her purported kidnapper has been taken into custody.
Ann Pettway turned herself in to the FBI on a parole violation charge. She is suspected of taking Carlina White from the hospital when she was just 19 days old. Pettway raised the girl under the name Nejdra Nance. Carlina is now 23 years old, and says she long suspected Pettway was not her biological mother.
Her biological parents, Joy White and Carl Tyson, believe Pettway kidnapped their daughter as a baby.
They brought Carlina to the hospital when she was just 19 days old because she had a high fever. Someone dressed as a nurse comforted them and told them the baby would be well cared for. They went home to rest. When they returned, their daughter was missing.
There were no leads in the kidnapping case 23 years ago. Now that Carlina has returned home, hopefully the whole story can be sorted out. It is so extremely rare for a kidnapping case to have a happy ending, especially after such a long time has passed.
Pettway has another child, a teenage son. Her neighbors say she seemed like a good mother, very caring and responsible. They’re shocked to learn of her suspected involvement in this kidnapping.
