When Hannah Clark of Wales was just two years old doctors transplanted a second heart into the girl to make up for the original heart’s inability to function. For 10 years the second heart beat but in that time Hannah developed tumors and could no longer take the immunosuppressive drugs that prevented her body from rejecting the donor heart.
The only choice the doctors had was to remove the working heart. When they did they were excited to discover Hannah’s original heart took over.
“It proves that, in some instances, a weakened heart has the capacity to recover – if it can be helped,” one of Hannah’s doctors said.
Three years have passed since doctors removed the second heart and now Hannah has made a full recovery. An amazingly happy ending indeed.
No, I don’t know what these people are saying.
