You have to wonder just what this daddy-daughter prankster team was thinking when they hatched a plan to trick strangers into believing the girl had been abducted. That, say police, is the explanation for the bizarre scene that unfolded last week in the Louisiana town of Covington.
Police say 45-year-old Tim Williams bound and gagged his 12-year-old daughter with duct tape, sat her in the front seat of his truck and drove her around town. Not surprisingly, the sight of the girl in such a state alarmed motorists, several of whom attempted to rescue the girl by boxing the truck in with their own vehicles.
Police arrived on the scene only to discover that the whole thing was a joke. Williams and his daughter had set out to do exactly what they’d done: fool people into believing that the girl was a kidnap victim in mortal danger.
Ultimately, the joke was on the pranksters themselves as dad was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His daughter didn’t get off scot-free either. She was charged with criminal mischief and released into the custody of her uncle, who we sincerely hope has more sense than her dad.
