No, this wasn’t made by a girlfriend for her jailed boyfriend; it was a toddler’s birthday cake.
Nathan Bibeau of Maine had purchased the pastry from an Auburn Walmart for his son’s 2nd birthday.
As The New York Daily News reports, a relative found the paring knife as they cut through the cake.
Bibeau tells WGME 13 he was furious upon finding the blade in the Elmo cake.
The discovery of the knife was such a bummer guests started to leave and Bibeau claims they cancelled Cayden’s party. In fact, the family is so disappointed and upset they’re considering a lawsuit.
“We’re not going to get that second birthday back ever.”
Walmart did apologize and offered a refund for the cake. And, according to spokesperson Kayla Whaling the store is banning the use of pairing knives at its bakeries across the country.Whaling told WGME, “this should not have happened. We’re thankful no one was hurt and sincerely apologize to our customers for their experience.”What do you think? How would you react if you found a knife in your child’s cake? Would you let it ruin the party? Would you sue?
