Busy Parent Briefing: No More DADT- Don't Ask Don't Tell Officially RepealedStephanie Precourt
History has been made this morning as the military can no longer prevent gays from serving openly in its ranks. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell has officially been repealed as of today- the 1993 law allowed homosexuals to serve in the military only if they kept their sexual orientation a secret. The DADT act specified that service members who disclosed that they were homosexual or engaged in homosexual conduct would be discharged.
The congressional bill to repeal DADT was put in place in December 2010.
