As most parents are, I’m extraordinarily protective of my children. I want them to learn to stand up for themselves, but I keep a close eye on what goes on in their day-to-day lives so I can ensure their physical and emotional safety isn’t compromised while they’re at such young ages.
If I were the mom in Hamden, Conn., Tyesha Reese, whose 3-year-old was shot on video being taunted by his day care center teacher, I would be out of my mind right about now. As it turns out, the mom seems to be sufficiently outraged.
Lindsay Cavallaro works at Sleeping Giant Day Care and was caught on video taunting a 3-year-old boy, Michael Santana, even as he becomes increasingly frustrated at the incessant bullying and videotaping, according to Fox News (via WTNH).
“Do it. Go ahead. No balls. Oh you’re a tough guy. Hey boss, show me your nine,” was among the things Cavallaro could be heard saying to him. Also? “News flash sweetheart I don’t really like you either. Because you throw toys. I don’t like you.”
Tyesha found out about the video as it was circulated in the community and then landed in her own email box. The teacher is on paid leave while the incident is being investigated, and little Michael has since been pulled out of the day care center.
“He’s everything to me,” Tyesha said, according to WTNH. “He doesn’t deserve it. No child deserves it and especially not mine.”
