On this day of Seussiness, when we celebrate all things Dr. Seuss, I was thinking we should find out once and for all what Dr. Seuss’ best book is from parents’ point of view.
There are many criteria you could use to pick Dr. Seuss’ top book. We could look at which ones have been turned into popular children’s movies and TV specials. We could look at which ones have sold the most copies. (In 2001, according to Publisher’s Weekly, Green Eggs and Ham was the fourth best-selling children’s book of all time.) We could deconstruct Theodore Geisel’s poetry.
I prefer to ponder this question from a purely emotional standpoint. Which of Dr. Seuss’ books was your favorite as a child? Which do your children enjoy most?
There are many books I did not include in the poll below for the sake of brevity, so don’t start yelling at me about not listing The Butter Battle Book or The Sleep Book as choices. This is about priorities. Which Dr. Seuss book would you want to have with you on a deserted island?
I know it’s hard, but it’s time to be tough. Make a decision. Which of the following Dr. Seuss books would you choose as his very best? Just click your favorite (scroll to see the whole list, and then click done). We’ll let you know which book wins out!
