Check your eggs!

Earlier today, an new egg recall was announced by Cal-Maine Foods, Inc.  The recalled eggs all came from the same farm in Croton, Ohio where evidence of salmonella had previously been found.

Despite the contamination, the eggs were released for distribution and are currently on the shelves in Arkansas, California, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

There have been no reports of illness from the recalled eggs and we’d like to keep it that way.  Read on for a full list of the recalled products and information on what to do if you have them in your refrigerator.

If you have any eggs on this list, Cal-Maine requests that you return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.

If you have already eaten eggs from the recalled list, here’s what you need to know about salmonella:  It’s a bacterial infection that leads to diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps.  Symptoms usually begin within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food or water and usually clear up in about a week.  In rare cases, the infection can spread to other parts of the body and be life threatening.  If you suspect you’ve eaten a bad egg, see your doctor immediately.

More questions?  Call Cal-Maine Foods, Inc at 1-866-276-6299 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CDT.
