It shouldn’t shock you to hear that obesity is a problem in this country. In fact, you might even be immune to hearing it. You could be shutting your eyes, putting your fingers in your eyes and yelling “YES!! I know, I know!”
But do you? DO YOU really? Because words like ‘epidempic’ are used so frequently now when it comes to explaining the issue of obesity, I fear it may be going in one ear and out the other. Yes, some people are working on school lunches. And yes, Jamie Oliver has started a Food Revolution. Sure, New York has banned extra large sodas.
But the predictions for our future are still dire.
As in – by 2030, you can expect half of this country to be obese. HALF. In some individual states, the predictions from this study, done by Trust for America’s Health, are even worse. Take my state, Missouri, for example. It is expected that a full 62% of the people who live here in this state will have a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 30. That is considered obese. This means, if I am at a party, more than 6 of every 10 people will be severely overweight.
This is a problem. More thoughts in the video.
If it was up to you to solve the problem, what would you do?
