Gabrielle Giffords Announces Resignation from Congress: Why Not Just Wish Her Well? (VIDEO)

She was first voted into office in 2006.  She took a bullet directly to her brain while doing her job – in fact, BECAUSE she was doing her job and someone didn’t like her.  Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot just more than a year ago at a ‘Congress on your Corner’ event in Tucson, Arizona.

12 other people were injured.  Six were killed.

On Sunday, Giffords announced via YouTube that she was resigning to focus on her recovery.  In that same video, she didn’t rule out coming back to run again.

And, it is amazing to me the number of people that simply can’t just wish her well.  So many comments filled with, ‘it’s about time’….  Yes, she did receive help as she struggled to recover.  And ultimately, she decided she couldn’t do the job… Maybe she did keep the office too long…but can’t we focus on her effort?  Her survivial?

To me, this isn’t a Left or Right issue….  she is a testament to personal strength.

And for those who were wondering if Gifford’s husband, Mark Kelly, would run for his wife’s seat?  As of today, he is reportedly saying no.
