GoDaddy already has a serious image problem, and today’s widespread shut down of GoDaddy has caused massive ripples throughout the web – because not only is GoDaddy’s hosting service down, but also every single domain name that is registered with GoDaddy is ALSO down.
This means there are a whole lot of folks out there that aren’t very happy.
To make it even more fun, apparently GoDaddy’s phone support is also down.
Interestingly, according to TechCrunch, a member of the hacker group Anonymous, known as AnonymousOwn3r, is claiming responsibility for the outage. Apparently because the hacker wants to “test security”.
I’m sure the millions of individuals, companies, and small businesses that currently have no websites up are deeply grateful. Not.
Most annoyingly are the hundreds of idiots cheering this action on, regardless of how much this hurts or inhibits the real life people behind those domain names and websites.
Once things are working again, you are more than welcome to switch your domain name and host. But that doesn’t keep you safe from attacks like this; unfortunately, we’re all at risk.
Wishing you a speedy return to function.
