Google Doodle for Thanksgiving Lets the Kids (and You) Decorate the Turkey

Decorate a turkey on Google's homepage. Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s easy to pass right by Google’s homepage with search engine shortcuts but you don’t want to miss it this Thanksgiving. The fun Google Doodle this week features an interactive turkey just like you used to make as a child.

A click on each feather will change their colors, and you can even give him a new hairstyle and fashionable shoes — or roller skates.

Usually I’m pretty crafty with the kids, but this holiday we have no plans to get out the scissors and glue to make hand-turkeys or anything like that. This virtual turkey craft will do just fine! You can even share your creation on Google+.

My kids (and I) look forward to the new Doodles that appear on Google for holidays and other special days to celebrate. You’ll have to check out Google’s awesome ‘Easter Eggs': 17 Secret Searches Full of Fun, including some of the best Google Doodles from the past. Our favorites still include Pacman (you can really play a full game!) and the Les Paul guitar. And a pirate Thanksgiving turkey in purple heels is pretty cool, too.
