Google Launches New Gmail InboxMolly Thornberg
Hey Gmail users, get ready for NEW! Google is rolling out a new Gmail inbox over the next few weeks.
Check out all of the new features Gmail inbox will include:
Across the top of your inbox, there are 5 tabs with your emails pre-sorted into 5 categories.
Primary – messages from people you regularly connect wtih
Social – Messages from social media networks, media-sharing sites, online dating services and other social websites.
Updates – Personal, auto-generated updates including confirmations, receipts, bills and statements.
Promotions – Deals, offers and other marketing emails.
Forums – Messages from online groups, discussion boards and mail lists
The tabs can be easily configured. You can choose which tabs you want live, non or all. You can drag and drop to move messages between tabs. You can set certain senders to appear in a particular tab. Star messages will appear in the primary tab.
Available on Web, Android and iOS Apps
Tabs will be available in Gmail for Android 4.0 as well as the Gmail for iPhone and iPad apps. The PRIMARY tab will be the first thing you see when opening the app, and can easily navigate to the other tab.s
Get This Feature Now
Some Gmail users will be able to access this feature now. From the gear menu, select Configure inbox when it appears in the Settings options.
Don’t want tabs, want the old look? No problem! Gmail will let you choose the layout you want – old school or new school.
