Has the First Daughter Had Her First Date? President Obama Hints Malia Might be Dating

Obama family portrait

Has Malia or Sasha entered the dating pool?

This just in (time for Valentine’s Day): Is there a boyfriend-in-chief?

According to ABC News, President Obama was in Georgia today to talk about his education agenda when he may have hinted that one of his daughters has entered the dating pool:

“I do have to warn the parents who are here, who still have young kids, they grow up to be, like five feet 10 inches.  And even if they’re still nice to you, they basically don’t have a lot of time for you during the weekends. They have sleepovers and dates. So all that early investment just leaves them to go away.”

Dates! He said dates! Which means that one his daughters — possibly Malia, 14 — might be dating! We’re not supposed to care about the personal lives of people not directly in the public spotlight. Like Duchess Kate’s baby bump, the sight of which has the royal family all in a tizzy

But at the same time, it’s hard to feel all motherly and sisterly towards the sweet Obama girls, even though they must be mortified at the prospect of millions of strangers speculating about their love and romantic lives at an age when love and romantic lives are already fraught with insecurity.

Presumably it was a slip of the tongue on the part of President Obama for which his daughters will give him a tongue lashing to make sure he doesn’t do it again. In the meantime, however, here’s hoping if there does exist a he, that he is worthy of one of those lovely shes.
