Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of your life. For bride Kari Nolte, her wedding day marks the loss of her beloved new husband, 26-year-old Gordon Wolder.
KCCI.com reports Wolder and 28-year-old single mother, Nolte met in March 2011 and instantly knew they belonged together. Wolder, who as a teenager had successfully battled leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer learned his cancer had returned while planning his October 2012 nuptials.
As Wolder’s health began to rapidly decline, the couple moved up their wedding day to April 14th.
The couple, surrounded by family and friends, exchanged vows lying in bed as Nolte lovingly held Wolder’s face in her hands. Wolder’s last words were “I do” followed by a kiss to his bride. As he struggled to hang on his father told him, “You’re married now, son, and it’s OK.” Wolder passed moments later.
