Although many held up hope for the safe return of the 4-year-old California boy named Juliani Cardenas, his tale does not have a happy ending.
The State of California sadly canceled the Amber Alert for Juliani Cardenas on Tuesday afternoon after his body was found. He could have been found earlier, but it took a couple of days before he was discovered. What happened?
Juliani Cardenas had been missing since January 18th when an Amber Alert was issued. Juliani was snatched from his grandmother’s arms by Juliani’s mom’s boyfriend, Jose Esteban Rodriguez. Juliani’s mom is presently almost nine months pregnant with Rodriquez’s baby.
And now Juliani Cardenas has been found in a canal where the car he had been taken in was found a couple days ago. But at that time, no bodies were found, and there was speculation that the kidnapper had left the automobile there to get searchers off his track. Juliani was eventually found in the canal by a utility worker and sadly was positively identified on Tuesday.
The suspect, 27-year-old Jose Esteban Rodriguez, has yet to be found, but there is speculation that he too could be deceased and in the canal as well.
Before the news hit the media, according to the Bellingham Herald, Juliani’s mom put on her Facebook page:
“I’m not talking to the press or anyone else I just had to let you all know before the news does. … I love you all very much and my son does too. He’s my lil angel now and believe me I’m crying as I am writing this to you all.”
So sad. Our condolences to Juliani’s family.
