In The Market for Some More Loving? Head to Your Nearest Grocery Store!

Chances are your bank account isn’t the only thing that has taken a hit this holiday season. Your libido may have also. During a time when we are so focused on holiday events and tackling our to-do lists in addition to the various task we are presented with in our every day lives, not just on the holidays, it can be easy to put off taking time to connect with your spouse on a more intimate level. Sometimes we are presented with a choice to make love or make it to bed before 10 p.m. and, as much as we would like to engage in a little romance with our significant others oftentimes sleep trumps sex.

Since a trip to the grocery store is inevitable, especially if you’ve got a holiday party in the works, I’ve rounded up 6 foods that can help give you a little holiday pick-me-up when it comes to your sex life. Using foods just might alleviate the need to inhale testosterone or seek out some oxytocin.  Make some room in your shopping cart and perhaps your belly too for these edible aphrodisiacs.

Continue reading for 6 foods that can help boost your libido and get things going in the bedroom.

  • Honey 1 of 6
For many of us, honey is often our go-to product when we are not feeling well. We remedy colds by adding honey to our tea and coughs by taking a spoonful but, we can also use it to bring us closer to our own honey (spouse)! Honey is said to increase the body's testosterone level due to it containing boron.
  • Figs 2 of 6
This fruit gets the blood circulating to all the right places, especially helpful for men. The extra blood flow is believed to be a result of the significant amounts of fiber found in figs.
  • Avocado 3 of 6
Having chips and guacamole as a before dinner appetizer during date night suddenly seems like an excellent idea for more reasons than simply because it tastes good. Apparently sandwiches aren't the only thing you should be adding avocado to add it to you sex life!
  • Vanilla 4 of 6
Chocolate gets all the attention because, not only does it taste delicious but it is known to be an aphrodisiac; however, vanilla, it is now your time to shine. It is said that vanilla can increase feelings of lust. And before Viagra, there was vanilla. Historically speaking vanilla has also been used to treat impotence.
  • Asparagus 5 of 6
Yet another compelling reason to eat your vegetables. Packed with "the sex vitamin" aka vitamin E, which is said to increase testosterone levels and be "vital for sexual health."
  • Bananas 6 of 6
I have seen bananas used as sexual innuendos for many baby shower and bridal shower games but it isn't their shape that causes bananas to make an appearance in this libido-boosting roundup. Instead, it is their composition that includes vitamin B and potassium. These two vitamins help in the stamina department as well as with the production of sex hormones. How a-peeling!
