Disgruntled former Britney Spears bodyguard Fernando Flores surfaced yet again today in the UK Sun newspaper to claim the pop star sensation is hitting her children with a belt.
He also says he witnessed Spears, who is now 28, serving her two children, Sean Preston, four, and Jayden James, three, shellfish, a food they are allergic to.
Flores, for those of you who prefer to follow the up and down movements of the stock market, or the preschool admission racket, the Boston Red Sox or pretty much anything besides the sad saga of the former child star, is the same Flores who came forward earlier this year because he couldn’t take Britney walking around her home naked. He also claims Spears sexually harassed him.
This time out, Flores is claiming Spears followed him to the pool house and demanded he hand over his belt. He complied, only to watch her then hit her children with it.
According to the Sun, Flores reported his latest charges to the Los Angeles County child protection authorities, who tried unsuccessfully to ask Spears about the allegations last week.
There has been no comment from Kevin Federline, Spears’ ex and the father of the two boys. Spears denies the allegations.
So what to think? Jessica Wakeman over at the Frisky thinks that Spears is so surrounded by nannies, bodyguards, assistants and the other human accoutrements of celebrity that if she even attempted such behavior, someone would have intervened.
I’m not so sure. On one hand, it really does seem like outrageous behavior from someone who must know she is always one step away from losing custody of her children. Moreover, it’s not as if the source here doesn’t have a motive to make the stuff up. On the other hand, I lived in West Los Angeles for a number of years and saw for myself the kid-glove way celebrities were treated by pretty much everyone from their sycophantic assistants to less-than-dispassionate law enforcement officials. It would not surprise me in the least if an entire audience of hangers-on watched a child being hit and did absolutely nothing at all.
What’s your opinion?
