Fast-food change Wendy’s launched (or is it “lunched”) a new menu item today and it sounds as nutritious as it does delicious: “natural-cut fries with sea salt.”
These fries are made from russet potatoes, have the skins on them and are sprinkled with delicious sea salt crystals. Ah, but beware.
These natural fries actually contain more calories and sodium than Wendy’s regular fries, the Daily Beast reports. Also, like the regular fries, the new menu item arrived at the store pre-cut and frozen.
Lucky for food producers everywhere, the term “natural” is unregulated and can be stamped on just about anything. But you, wise consumer, know the difference.
Hey, I’m not condemning the fries or your little fast-food habit. I’m just saying, pack the blood pressure cuff and an extra shunt.
