“I’ve done ‘Children With Guns!’ And it won everything! It was a piece of brilliant work.”
First, let me make it abundantly clear that someone could accidentally fire a real gun in the general direction of Abby Lee Miller, star of Dance Moms on Lifetime and I wouldn’t really break a sweat calling 9-1-1 if she should happen to get struck by a bullet or two. But that’s beside the point.
The loudmouthed dance teacher is at it again, sparking her special brand of scripted controversy on the “reality” show.
As HuffPost TV reports, Abby Lee Miller says guns are a big win when it comes to dance competitions.
The girls’ mothers were uncomfortable with the gigantic gun props Miller gave their girls to use and dared question Miller about her decision.
The mom asks, “The caliber (such clever script writing!) of the (dance) piece, it doesn’t seem as high as what you normally put out there for the girls. The guns … as moms it’s throwing us off a bit. It seems a bit aggressive.”
How dare this silly non-dance teaching mom diss Miller’s craft?
Miller wasn’t having it, of course.
As HuffPo notes, “she then went on to explain that lots of musicals use guns as props, like “Chicago,” for example. The fact that “Chicago” features adults, not little girls, packing heat seemed to escape her.”
Miller explains how she wants her girls entering their upcoming Pittsburgh competition “armed and dangerous.”
You can see the drama unfold in the clip below.
Abby Miller and her “reality” show aside, would it bother you if you child was given a prop gun to use as part of a performance? Why or why not?
