The royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was a prim and proper affair full of pomp and circumstance. But there was an injection of cute with the appearance of the ‘attendants’, the children invited to participate in the wedding as bridesmaids and page boys. Who were these children and what was up with the outfits?
As is royal tradition in Great Britain, the bridesmaids aren’t the brides BFFs but rather young girls. The bridesmaids included Lady Louise Windsor (age 7) and Margarita Armstrong-Jones (age 8) both relatives as well as Prince William’s goddaughter Grace van Cutsem (age 3), and Camilla Parker Bowles granddaughter Eliza Lopes (age 3).
The page boys aka groomsmen were the son of Prince William’s secretary and friend William Lowther-Pinkerton (age 10) and Tom Pettifer (age 8) who is the son of Prince William’s beloved nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke.
The little girls all wore white dresses by Nick Macfarlane that looked like mini-bridal gowns. And while most bridesmaids here in the states wear a variety of colors, generally in pastel hues, it is royal tradition that the bridesmaids don white just like the bride.
And the little boys wore military garb modeled after the Prince William’s. Looking like they were extras in the Nutcracker or playing a very fancy game of war.
But they did all look pretty darn adorable don’t you think?
