Kim Kardashian's New Song And Other Pop Horrors I'll Pretend To Like For My Daughter's Sake

Frankly, I’m surprised it took this long.  Does this mean we all have to refer to Kim as a triple threat?  Because she’s added recording artist to her resume.  She’s also a model and actress.  What?  She’s an actress.  Haven’t you seen those manipulated dramas the producers of Keeping Up With The Kardashians drum up for her each week?  I mean, I really believed that Kim had to fire an employee at Dash!  Oh!  Oh!  And remember the one where Kim threw a party at her new house and got upset about the mess her friends and family made?  Then she had a heart to heart with Bruce Jenner and it was all better.  That’s acting!

That’s also enough of that because I know more about the “plot” of Keeping Up With The Kardashians than is generally advisable.

But yeah, back to recording artist.  Kardashian just premiered her first single “Jam (Turn It Up)” on Ryan Seacrest‘s morning radio show and is getting terrible reviews from just about everyone.

I listened to it.  It sounds no different than any other ProTools manipulated crap anyone else puts out.  But I’ll tell you what, I am fully prepared to jam to Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus if and when my daughter decides that, OH MY GOD, Kim Kardashian’s new song is, like, so totally the greatest thing EVER!

When I was growing up sometimes my mom would bum my trip.  If I crushed on a teen celeb she didn’t think was cute she’d tell me.  If I liked a crappy song (Starship’s We Built This City) she had no problem telling me it sucked.  Incidentally, We Built This City was recently voted the worst song of all time, so mom was right, but still!

So I have vowed to rock the hell out of anything my daughter likes.  None of this hipster-parenting-my-child-loves-Radiohead malarkey for me.  Sure I would totally dig it if she likes Mumford & Sons but if me and my eventually 9-year-old daughter (she’s still only two) end up partying in the USA with Miley Cyrus or turning it up with Kim… so be it.

May as well, she’s just going to turn 14 and hate me anyway.

You can listen to Kim’s new song after the jump.
