Would you name your kid Audio Science? Probably not. Unless you’re a celebrity.
Shannyn Sossamon, who starred in A Knight’s Tale and 40 Days and 40 Nights chose the name Audio Science for her now seven-year-old son. “We wanted a word not a name, so my boyfriend read through the dictionary three or four times,” said the actress. “We were going to call him Science, but thought it might get shortened to Sci, as in Simon.”
Audio Science is just one of the names included in Babble’s list of 50 Most Ridiculous Celebrity Baby Names.
Others that made the list are Sir Bob Geldof’s daughters Fifi Trixiebell, Peaches and Pixie as well as Sylvester Stallone’s kids Sage Moonblood and Seargeoh.
When it comes to baby naming, it seems that anything goes if you’re famous. In general, unusual names are gaining in popularity. As I’ve written before, in our individualist culture, being unique is generally seen as a plus. If you’re a celebrity, standing out from the crowd is even that much more important.
Actor Rob Morrow and his wife got a good laugh out of their daughter’s name, Tu Morrow.
For outright ridiculous, though, it doesn’t get better than Moxie Crimefighter, the name of Penn Jillette’s daughter. “We chose her middle name because when she’s pulled over for speeding she can say, `But officer, we’re on the same side, my middle name is CrimeFighter,” said Jillette.
What’s your favorite ridiculous celebrity baby name? I admit I have a soft spot for Jermajesty, the name of one of Jermaine Jackson’s son.
