Breaking News: 23 Students and One Teacher Are Being Held Hostage in Wisconsin

Marinette High School, where 24 hostages have been held since 3 pm.

An armed student at Marinette High School in Wisconsin held 23 students and one teacher hostage beginning at 3 pm today.  CBS News reports that “police are communicating with the teacher inside the classroom.”  Chief of Police Jeff Skorik said “there are also police from other communities, including nearby Green Bay, who are offering assistance.”

So far, no injuries have been reported.  Few details are available at this time, but CBS reports that the teacher is a woman and the student holding hostages is a male.  Local CNN affiliate WBAY reports that five students have been released, leaving 18 in the classroom.  The student took over a classroom shortly after 3 p.m. local time today.  Police are hoping to resolve the situation soon.  We’ll keep you posted as details on this story develop.
