Joseph Smith had been shopping with his wife and infant son family at the Fayetteville, Georgia Kohl’s department store. As he was leaving the store he wrestled with the baby stroller to close it up and his wallet fell out of the top part of the stroller.
Smith tells CBSAtlanta.com he realized his wallet was missing the next day and returned to the store. The wallet contained about $100 and $200-$300 in gift cards. Smith his a seminary student and his wife is a stay at home mom so money is tight and he was desperate to find his wallet
Instead, he watched video surveillance that shows a woman entering the store, picking up the wallet and handing the money and gift cards out to her kids.
“What really gets me is I can see an adult doing it, it’s just kind of the world we live in, but when you have your two kids with you…To set that kind of example, to say here not only is ok to pick it up but let’s go through it, let’s take what’s in it, and then not even turn it in.” Joseph was disappointed, so say the least.
Unsurprisingly, after news and video of the stolen wallet appeared in which the Smith family asked anyone who recognizes the family in the video to call Fayetteville Police, someone returned the wallet to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and it contained all of its contents.
