Who: Margalit Sturm Francus, mom of two, California
Why we love this site: Having a special-needs child has not deterred this savvy mom of two from showing her family the world. Francus uses her blog to provide time-tested tips on flying (request bulkhead rows, or get the seat in front of your child if he likes to kick), picking hotels (avoid ones on loud streets, call ahead to ask for the quietest room in the property), keeping her child on his gluten-free, casein-free diet, and helping a routine-sensitive kid feel comfortable with change (review the itinerary with him beforehand; use pictures, postcards, and YouTube videos to show him what to expect). Her goal is to ensure that autistic children’s needs are still met on vacation – without sacrificing meaningful experiences for the rest of the family.
