iPhone Apps for Moms

Top 50 iPhone Apps for Moms

About a week after I began using my iPhone, I was in love. I had a calendar with me at all times, and I was able to stay on top of my family's schedule - even though there are six of us! I had email access while I was out, so I wasn't constantly playing catch up with PTO business in the evening. And then I discovered apps! With these programs, I could track my baby's feeding schedule, my family's illnesses, and my attempts at exercise. And there were apps that could help keep my children entertained and educated! My iPhone was quickly becoming a vital tool that made my busy mom life more manageable.

In January 2009 I began a website, The iPhone Mom, dedicated to helping moms find apps that could do the same for them. Since beginning the site, I've seen both the quantity and quality of useful apps for moms grow.

Babble.com asked me to put together a list of my Top 50 iPhone Apps for Moms. Here, in descending order, are my favorites and the ones I think you'll find most useful.

I happen to believe that slow cookers are one of the best inventions ever created. My Crock Pot saves my day at least once a week or more. On the evenings when we have sports practices or activities, I like to have a meal that cooks on its own and stays warm while we all come and go. Luckily for those of us who can’t live without our slow cookers, Crock-Pot Recipe Finder has hundreds of recipes. You can browse through them based on their categories or see the top-rated recipes on a list. One of the categories is called Random Recipes where you use a spinner to match the type of recipe (appetizer, dip, main dish, etc.) with a type of ingredient (beef, seafood, vegetarian). Then give the spinner a swipe and the app pulls up a recipe. You can also spin without choosing your recipe type and ingredient so you’ll get a truly random recipe. Additionally you can search for recipes by keyword or look at them grouped by Crock Pot size. Finally, the app also features an entire section of Crock Pot tips and lets you add recipe ingredients directly to a shopping list. If you’re looking for fresh slow cooker recipes, this app is great.
