Mom tries to steal groceries, leaves daughter behind.
A Bay Area mom tried to rob a Safeway this week by waiting in the getaway car for her 10-year-old daughter to come out into the parking lot with a cart full of unpaid groceries. When the unpaid items tripped a security alarm, the cart’s wheels locked up and – unbelievably – the mother drove away, leaving her 10-year-old daughter behind. Police took the 10-year-old into custody but did not charge her. When the mother called her daughter’s cell phone, police answered and asked the mother to come pick the child up, but the mother refused, not wanting to subject herself to arrest. The child has since been placed in the care of her grandparents and the mother faces charges of burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
