Morning News - Steven Tyler Leaves Aerosmith

steven-tylerBig news from the music world — Steve Tyler has left Aerosmith. Or as Reuters put it, Who wants to become the new singer for Aerosmith?

No? Not gonna cut it, huh? Oh well. Can’t say I didn’t try.

From the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs released running back Larry Johnson. Or “former Pro Bowler Larry Johnson,” as he will now be referred to. Larry has appeared to be a little nuts for some time now, but this was the last straw: “On Oct. 25…he posted on his Twitter account several insults to fans, questioned Coach Todd Haley’s credentials and used a gay slur. He repeated the slur the next day to reporters and was suspended for two weeks.” He was also about to break the Chiefs’ team rushing record, held by Priest Holmes. Now he won’t. Well thank goodness for that. (L.A. Times)

Should juvenile offenders receive life in prison without parole? The Supreme Court is weighing a case dealing with that very issue. Interesting stuff, worth a read if you have a few minutes. (New York Times)

The World Health Organzation says that “women lack essential health care throughout their lives, particularly as teenagers and elderly people,” and although women “generally live longer than men, but their lives are not necessarily healthy or happy.” This is not good news, of course, but can we get a “duh”? Living longer doesn’t mean living better? You don’t say. (Reuters)

Rupert Murdoch says that he doesn’t want Google to link to the websites of the various newspapers he owns. Google says “yeah, whatever, old dude.” (Guardian)
