Near Death Distraction: 10-Year-Old Boy Falls Onto Railway Tracks While Gaming

Kids can possess an unwavering focus, especially when it comes to television and video games. Most of the time it just means they don’t get their homework in on time or they are late coming to the dinner table. But in the case of a 10-year-old boy, he was so immersed in playing his PSP that it almost cost him his life.

But this boy from Milan, Italy was lucky; he was saved just in time. What happened?

According to the Daily Mail, he walked straight off the platform while playing his portable video game and fell right onto the train tracks. Fortunately, there was a fast moving off-duty police officer nearby who came to the rescue.  The officer said, “’He was with his mother and sister, and before he fell, I saw them out of the corner of my eye, and he was completely lost in his game and wasn’t looking where he was going. I just had a few seconds because he had got off a train and mine was due in less than a minute so I acted as quickly as I could, making sure not to touch the rails.” And seeing the video (below) you can see how quickly he did indeed act.

This comes on the heels of the viral video of the Fountain Lady, but this newest example of technological absent mindedness is far more dangerous and chilling due to the boy’s age.

Do you think people will learn soon about the dangers of these distractions? And will parents try to reign in their kids for not just their mental welfare but their physical safety as well?

You can check out the video below.
