New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Signs "Still Birth Certificate" Law

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed a new bill into law to create a certificate of still birth when a child is born dead, instead of a fetal death certificate.

Death certificates are provided for funeral purposes, but parents should have the choice to receive a birth certificate for their stillborn child. It is hoped to comfort many grieving families and should take effect within six months.

New York joins 31 other states in the U.S. that already participate in the MISSing Angels Bill Legislation, allowing families a birth certificate for still birth.
